Harris Vintners was founded in 1976 by Lewis Harris with the simple aim of providing like minded restauranteurs and bon viveurs with a steady supply of digestifs and apéritifs from France.
In the 1970’s and through to the 1990’s, Lewis had a well loved French restaurant in Brighton, Le Grandgousier. Lewis saw that in order to give his customers the best French wine and spirits he’d need to import them himself and so Harris Vintners was born.
Lewis and his wife Gaye, imparted this love of French food and wine and spirits to their sons, Henry and Matthew who both grew up to be chefs and restaurateurs.
As custodian of Harris Vintners, Henry’s wife Denise is carrying forward the legacy of Henry’s late father who founded the business.
